Add Artistic Effects

When using Office 2010, you can easily give your photographs, clip art images, or screen shots an artistic flair. Simply insert the graphic into your document and then apply an Artistic Effect to make your graphic appear as if it were sketched in pencil, drawn with pastels, molded from plastic or created in a number of other mediums.
When you insert a graphic or click on one, the Picture Tools become available. To apply an Artistic Effect, choose the Format tab under Picture Tools and then choose Artistic Effects in the Adjust group. A gallery of effects appears. As you hover over each effect, Microsoft Office provides a live preview of how your image would appear with that effect applied. The Artistic Effects command is available in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
After you apply an effect, you can remove the effect by choosing the first gallery option, None or by clicking Artistic Effects Options at the bottom of the gallery and then clicking Reset in the Format Picture, Artistic Effects pane.

Insert a Picture

  1. Place your cursor where you want to insert a picture.
  2. Activate the Insert tab.
  3. Click Picture in the Illustrations group. The Insert Picture dialog box appears.

  1. Locate and click the picture you want to insert and then click Insert. Office places the picture in your document and the Picture Tools become available.

Add an Artistic Effect

  1. Click the picture, clip art, or screenshot. The Picture Tools become available.
  2. Activate the Format tab.
  3. Click the down-arrow next to Artistic Effects. A gallery of effects appears. As you hover over each effect, you see a live preview of the effect.
  4. Click the Artistic Effect you want to apply.
